Uganda Showcase Gorillas In 45-Minutes Video At Berlin Travel Festival
Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is doing wonders in marketing Uganda tourism products worldwide. Despite the poor marketing before that almost made Uganda unknown, UTB has woken up to aggressively market Uganda tourism products like never before. Uganda is honored to showcase a 45-minute video at the Berlin Travel Festival. The video will feature mountain gorillas in the jungles of Bwindi impenetrable forest to give future travelers an image of how gorilla trekking can be. The video will show a road trip to Uganda for chimpanzees in Kibale forest national park, the vastness of kidepo valley national park plus the rapid waterfalls and source of the Nile. The exciting gorilla video is dubbed “the pearl of Africa –explore” and was captured by Makers Germer and British You tuber and Videographer Thomas Alex Norman during the familiarization trip in Uganda in October 2018. The major objective for the video is to exposé Uganda’s top tourism products hence more travelers to visit the pearl of Africa to see mountain gorillas and other wildlife after which Uganda was dubbed the pearl of Africa.
Also, the festival is meant to globally market Uganda as home to about 53.9% of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas hence the best destination to visit and track mountain gorillas. Also, the beautiful sceneries of green vegetation, rolling hills, and conducive climate make Uganda an exceptional place to visit. The kindness and hospitality of Ugandans make travelers feel at home fro the moment they enter Uganda borders to when they depart and hence the best people to stay with. It’s with no doubt that the marketing of Uganda at such a global gathering would go along way in raising Uganda’s profile as a top tourist destination offering exceptional experiences. Berlin travel festival is one of the largest public film festivals in the world. The Berlin travel festival comes with a mixed blend of conferences, exhibitions, networking events, workshops and entertainment, and master classes. The film was developed specifically for the Berlin travel festival which is a unique place of artistic exploration. The idea of capturing this video started in October 2018 during the familiarization trip that was organized by the Uganda tourism board when it hosted marketing representatives from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Besides exhibitions, the Berlin travel festival comprises of many other activities which include conferences, exhibitions, networking events, workshops, master classes and entertainment among others. The Berlin travel festival attracts a high number of business people from all parts of the world o market different tourism products in their respective countries. in 2017, over 15000 people traveled from all over the world to attend the Berlin travel festival.
Why are mountain gorillas a major focus?
Much as many tourism products in Uganda are being marketed, mountain gorillas are a major product being sold by all travel operators in Uganda. Uganda is blessed to shelters over 500 mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest and Mgahinga gorilla national parks. The high number of mountain gorillas in Uganda guarantee travelers availability of gorilla permits in Uganda compared to the neighboring and Democratic Republic of Congo. Also, the low cost of a Uganda gorilla permit at $600 for foreign nonresident, $500 for foreign residents and 250,000shs for East African residents make Uganda a cheap travel destination for budget travelers compared to Rwanda where a single gorilla permit costs $1500 paid by all travelers despite one’s nationality. Besides gorilla trekking, Uganda offers gorilla habituation experience to travelers. This entail training of wild mountain gorillas to make them familiar with human presence before they are opened for trekking. 17 gorilla families have been habituated in Uganda and these include among others Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura, Busingye, Bweza, Kyaguliro, Nshongi, Oruzongo, Mishaya, Kahungye, Bitukura, Kwitonda, Nkuringo, Katwa, Christmas, and Nyakagezi gorilla families. Bushaho, and Bikyingi, gorilla families are undergoing habituation in Rushaga sector south of Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Other Uganda tourism products include culture especially for the kalimajong, game safaris and chimpanzee tours among others.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Travel different” held in Arena Berlin aimed at uniting adventurers, discoverers and brands of today. Over 100 speakers and 150 exhibitors from all over the world are scheduled to present papers on the latest innovation, original ideas exciting destinations.
