6 Days Kenya Safari – Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi capital city
Nairobi capital city is 17 kilometers from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Your guide will greet you when you arrive and take you to the hotel in the city center where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara national reserve is 270 km (5-hour drive) south west of Nairobi capital city. You will depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive to the Masai Mara in Narok county. Arrive in time for lunch followed by an evening game drive between 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The protected area is famous for harboring the wildebeest migration, Big 5 animals, and over 500 species of birds. The reserve covers 1,510 sq.km of which much is covered by open grassland plains dotted by acacia and outcrops as well as riverine forests along Mara and Talek rivers. The park is bounded to the east by the Ngama hills, and the Oloololo escarpment. From one of these vantage points, you can have a sundowner or picnic and enjoy the view of the rift valley. Dinner and overnight stay in one of the areas of Masai Mara including Mara Triangle and the private or community conservancies outside the main reserve.

Day 3: Full Day in Masai Mara
Enjoy game drives in the Masai Mara National Reserve in the morning, afternoon, and evening with the chance to see the Big 5 animals including rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, lions, and leopards. Visitors can decide to have a picnic in the bush or return to the lodge for lunch. Visitors to Masai Mara between July and October have the opportunity to see the wildebeest migration, particularly the Mara River crossings. Optional activities include Maasai community walk and hot air balloon safari. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Elementaita
The journey from Masai Mara to Lake Elementaita is 325 km (6-hour drive). You will depart Masai Mara early in the morning and reach in the afternoon. Enjoy lunch and relaxation and go for an evening guided hike along the shoreline to the hot springs. Lake Elementaita wildlife sanctuary is an Important Bird Area and a major breeding ground for over 8,000 great white pelicans. On the nature walk, the Wild animals you might see include zebras and waterbucks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Elementaita to Aberdare national park
Aberdare is 160 km (3-hour drive) east of lake Elementaita. You will depart Lake Elementaita around 10 am after a morning game drive and breakfast. Arrive in Aberdare national park on time for lunch. After some relaxation, the afternoon / evening game drive with the sundowner will begin from 3 pm. The Aberdare mountain ranges constitute a large ravine system with tropical forests with African redwoods, coniferous junipers and podocarpus trees, and bamboo. There are waterfalls, open moorlands (peat bogs), steep valleys, and the highest peak is Mt. Satima 4,001 m.a.s.l. The protected area is rich in biodiversity including 290 species of birds, primates, and the big 5 animals which include black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, lions, and leopards. Other wild animals include antelope species such as the Bongo, reedbucks, bushbucks, and blue duikers. There are spotted hyenas, zebras, giant forest hogs, and African wild cats. For keen photographers, the park also contains several waterfalls of which Karuru falls is 117 meters high. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Aberdare to Nairobi city
Enjoy a morning game drive and breakfast in the Aberdare National Park. Check out and transfer for about 190 km (4-hour drive) to Nairobi city. You might take a historical tour of Nairobi city depending on the time of your departure flight. You will be dropped off at the airport. End of 6 days 5 nights Kenya safari.
