As gorilla trekking a dream come true for most animal lovers in the world, the Kenya former Attorney General is not an exception. Njonjo joined the list of other prominent people who have traveled from all over the world to take part in the magical gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National parks. Njonjo was flown to Entebbe airport where he bordered a chattered flight from Kajjansi to Kisoro airstrip a short distance to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. From there, he was driven to Mgahinga forest where silver meets with gold. Just like the past gorilla trekkers, Njonjo descried his hour’s encounter with the gorillas as a magical experience he will live to remember. The former attorney general was lucky to see two babies and 2 silverbacks, an experience he will live to remember. After the trek, Njonjo was awarded with a certificate of gorilla trekking congratulating him upon achieving this once in a lifetime experience. Due to his old age, Njonjo used the service of sedan chair where a group of four local porters lifted him to and from seeing the endangered gorillas. General Njonjo trekked Nyakagyezi gorilla family, the only Gorilla group in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. In late 2019, Nyakagyezi family was joined by Hirwa gorilla group which migrated from Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. Apparently, Mgahinga has two gorilla families available for trekking.
