6 days Uganda safari detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth & evening boat cruise
After morning breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which takes roughly 6-7 hours reaching in the afternoon for lunch. Check in to the lodge, refresh and go for an evening boat cruise at Kazinga channel. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge.
Day 2: Game Viewing – Transfer to Bwindi forest
Wake up early and go for a morning game driving in the open Savannahs of the park. Expect to see a variety of animals including herds of elephants, lions, buffalos, Uganda kobs, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs and hippos among others. Have a late breakfast at your lodge and wait for hot lunch. In the veining drive through ishasha sector to Buhoma sector north of Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Day 3: Gorilla tracking
Wake up early, have breakfast and with packed lunch transfer to the national park headquarters for the briefing about gorilla trekking. At 8:00m, hike into the jungle searching for the allocated gorilla family. Hiking time depend on the location of the gorilla family and the speed of their movements. Hiking time can, therefore, be as short as 30 minutes to full day of trekking.
Day 4: Buhoma-Nkuringo forest trail -Transfer to Mgahinga
Have a morning breakfast, check out of the lodge ad transfer to the park headquarters in Buhoma. Start off the forest walk right from the park headquarters in Buhoma, throughout the forest to Nkuringo sector.
The trail last for roughly 6 hours depending on the speed of the travelers and physical fitness. Expect to meet different species of birds, butterflies, animals and local people in the forest. Remember to wear hiking boots for easy movements in the slippery muddy grounds, also carry rain jackets for the unexpected forest weather conditions. Travelers find the driver in Nkuringo for transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park. Dinner and overnight at Gahinga lodge.
Day 5: Batwa cultural experience & Caldera walk
You have a morning breakfast and go for Batwa cultural experience. Meet the indigenous Batwa who take you through their traditional forest life, show you medicinal herbs in the jungle and perform a traditional dance. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and some rest. In the evening, have a walk to the caldera rewarding you with clear views of the Virunga Volcanoes, local communities, and activities which take place in the area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kampala
After your morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer back through kisoro- Kabale, Mbabara-Masaka-Kampala route reaching in the evening.
