Once in a lifetime experience!!!
Our driver Norman was excellent from picking us up at our hotel, driving us 3 hours to the National Park and being on top of all of our Gorilla/monkey/additional activities. He was a fun guy to be around and was also very informative about Rwanda and the gorillas.
Nelson was always very quick to reply to emails and easy to communicate with when booking the trip.
Seeing the Gorillas was an absolutely amazing experience. We tracked the Amahoro family which was a 30min walk through farmland before hiking 1.5 hours up the mountain. There were only 4 people in our group and we all got to spend plenty of time with the gorillas, seeing two silver backs.

Amazing experience with Norman Mugabo!
What an incredible experience. From the start, emailing Nelson to the drop off at or hotel in Kigali it was a seamless and positive experience. Norman was our guide and he was a really fun and educated guide. He was always punctual and waiting with a smile.
The first day we were taken to the Genocide Museum which I think is a must for anyone visiting Rwanda as it plays such an important, yet bitterly tragic part of their history.
Seeing the Gorillas was an amazing experience, I almost couldn’t believe it was real when we saw our first Silverback. The hike to the Amahoro tribe (the tribe we tracked) was a good 2 hours with about 90mins of that up hill through thick jungle. The trackers and guides are awesome making it as safe and easy as possible. You can get a porter to carry your bag if you would like.
Once you find the Gorillas you are there for an hour ( they don’t like more than 1hr human interaction with the Gorillas daily). Be prepared to get up close an personal. I had the chief Silverback walk toward me meaning I had to drop down into bushes to get out of his way. Nonetheless he still managed to put his big right hand on my thigh. A massive adrenaline rush.
This is a once in a lifetime experience (although hopefully not!). If you want to get very close to wild Gorillas in the African jungle it’s a MUST DO! I would recommend gorilla trek Africa to anyone.
Tip: the jungle has stinging nettles so take proper hiking attire, boots and gloves.
