Mulika Gavis’ Trip advisor reviews
Absolutely Amazing Trip
We just returned from a two week trip and it was absolutely amazing. Our guide Gavis was beyond great. Extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with, which is important when you are with him all day for 2 weeks.
We did 4 treks, a Gorilla and Golden Monkey in Rwanda and a Gorilla and Chimpanzee trek in Uganda. I know the fees charged by the governments are high especially the Rwanda gorilla trek, but it is a once in a lifetime trip and we are thrilled we did them all. The gorilla trek in Rwanda required some climbing and you need to be on good physical condition.
In addition to the treks, we went on game drives looking for and finding a variety of animals. By visiting villages we learned about culture and way of life. All organized by the company and our guide.
All of the lodges Gorilla Trek Africa used were great. The rooms were very clean, the food was great and the service was outstanding. The views were breathtaking.
The company is extremely well organized and was attentive to our needs. As I said above, we loved our guide Gavis and found dealing with the manager, Nelson, a pleasure. He got back to us very promptly and was attentive to our questions, needs and issues. If you are going to take this type of adventure, Gorilla Trek Africa is the company to use.
Gorilla Trek
We are just returning from 2 weeks Gorilla Treking in Rwanda & Uganda. Our experience with Gorilla Trek Africa was outstanding. Our guide Gavis was extremely capable, knowledgeable, and compassionate. We spent two weeks with him & felt so cared for. He helped in so many ways to make our trip so special. We have had many guides in our world travels- he ranks among the best! Nelson, the manager & Mr. Wilbur, the owner were extremely concerned about pleasing us. We preferred Our Trek in Uganda which is good because the price has now doubled in Rwanda. We loved Five Volcanoes Lodge & Mahogany Springs – both lodges we Gorilla treked from. The Myena lodge in Queen Elizabeth was beautiful. Our favorite lodge by far was Kyianga in Fort Portal. I’d recommend staying there at least three nights. The lodge is magnificent & the staff is 5 stars. We hiked to see the chimps, swam in Crater Lake & did a beautiful bird walk with their bird expert Simon.
We wouldn’t recommend Lake Bunyonyi Eco Lodge & after our Guide called Nelson they won’t be using them. We also wouldn’t recommend Ishasha River Lodge. The new managers don’t treat the guides respectfully – not allowing them to join their guests in the main area. Thy also lacked flexibility around meal times, laundry etc. Gavis, our guide called Nelson & Wilbur to update them about each experience.
If you are wanting to go Gorilla Treking, look no further than Gorilla Trek Africa!
